Academy of Stardom Review

Freestyle is book one in the Academy of Stardom series by Bea Paige.. A dark reverse harem romance with dancers, gangs and a little mystery.

While this is its own complete series I recommend starting with Brothers Freed followed by Academy of Misfits and Beyond the Horizon before reading this series. There are moments of crossovers with previous characters and it flows better when you’re aware of the previous stories.

Xeno, Zayn, York and Dax are the breakers and Pen is their girl. Or she used to be.

Freestyle starts with quite a lot of backstory building with Pen’s present and past POV’s to slowly reveal the past between Pen & the breakers. This is very much a slow burn start with the build up of the story, but it’s so addictive that you don’t notice it as much. Though if you’re looking for spice from page one, this is not that kind of story. This first book is very plot heavy.

I really enjoy that each guy has a different personality. They aren’t all variations of the some persona and the all have a different place in her past.

I love how deep dance runs through Pen’s veins, it’s not just what she does it’s soul deep. She uses it to heal, to cope and to feel freedom when she’s suffocated by everything in her life that’s out of her control.

Grim and Beast also make an appearance, two of my character favourites!

That cliffhanger. Perfectly placed but tortuous nonetheless

Lyrical is book two in the Academy of Stardom series by Bea Paige..

I think my favourite part of this book is the multiple POV’s. Instead of Penn’s past and present we now have not only Penn’s POV, but the Breakers too.

The plot really starts to unfold throughout this book with the challenges Penn has had to face because of choices made when she broke the breakers hearts 3 years ago. Along with small parts of the Breakers.

This series continues to hook me in and the more it develops the harder it is to put down.

While book one, Freestyle was very much a slow burn romance and spice wise that does start to increase throughout Lyrical. But in saying that again this series is very much plot heavy and doesn’t focus on the spice.

This cliffhanger is one of those ‘what the hell just happened’ moments, so if you struggle with cliffhangers be sure to have Breakers handy to dive straight into

Breakers is book three in the Academy of Stardom series. by Bea Paige.

Thankfully we pick up where that ‘What the hell just happened’ cliffhanger left us. Bea never leaves you hanging too long in the next book to dive into plot or tying the last book in.

We getting the bigger story unfolding here, the plot opens up to show Penn what the Breakers have been doing and why but she also learns how they spent their last three years. This has been building since book one, but never felt like it dragged. It build and flowed so brilliantly that you just kept reading.

Past traumas are really explored here. This is good time to remind to check trigger warnings before reading. While this series does have a romance element there is darkness throughout this storyline.

For me this also brought in more of our side characters like the Freed brothers but mostly Beast and Grim. It just makes me need their story more.

Also the spice does build up more in this book. But as I mentioned in my previous reviews this is a very plot driven series, so if you’re here for smut on every page this is not the series for you.

Finale is book four in the Academy of Stardom by Bea Paige. A dark reverse harem romance with dancers, gangs and a little mystery.

Pen and her boys fight to keep the family they’ve built and those closest to them safe. Without giving spoilers to the specific of this book.

This series if full of emotion and passion. Twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat. A fight for redemption, but above all else it’s saturated in love. Love so hard it’s palpable.

I highly recommend this series and it’s also a brilliant step into Bea’s nest series Their Obsession and Grim & Beast’s story.
